Hands off Venezuela!

The Communist Liberation condemns the imperialist intervention of the US government in Venezuela, including bombings in Caracas and other areas of the country. US state terrorism is sealed by the gangster-style arrest and kidnapping of President Maduro and his wife.

The "peacemaker" Trump does not even keep up the pretense. The attack is no longer justified even by the "fight against narco-terrorism". Publicly, Trump states that the goal is to overturn the nationalization of Venezuela's oil industry, which was carried out in the 1970s, claiming that the wealth of the Latin American country belongs to American oil companies.

As the hegemony of American capitalism is challenged, the Trump administration has made gaining complete control of the Western Hemisphere, from Greenland to Tierra del Fuego, its priority. Operation “Southern Spear,” with the largest military buildup in the Caribbean, is not limited to Venezuela. According to the Secretary of War (as the Department of Defense has now been renamed), the entire Western Hemisphere “is America’s neighborhood and we will protect it.”

For two centuries, the US has been intervening in its "backyard" constantly, either through direct military interventions or through indirect means (supporting bloodthirsty and fascist dictatorships, inciting civil wars, financing far-right politicians etc). Especially in the case of Venezuela, the main goal of the US is to control its vast oil deposits -the largest globally– as well as its mineral wealth.

The Communist Liberation supports the just struggle of the Venezuelan people. We express our absolute solidarity with its working class, which for decades has been the protagonist of the popular struggle for social progress and liberation from the shackles of American imperialism and the local bourgeoisie. It is the same people who are currently mobilizing and arming themselves en masse. Now is the moment of non-negotiable solidarity between the movements and peoples around the world against the intervention of American imperialism in Venezuela.
