Invitation - International Anti-War Conference

22-23-24 July 2026, Athens – Greece

Our era is marked by the intensification of imperialist rivalries, the escalation of military conflicts, brutality against peoples, and the deeper reactionary restructuring of capitalism on a global scale. The rivalries between ruling classes, states, and imperialist alliances lead to wars, displacement, poverty, repression, and the threat of a global war.

The genocidal attack of the zionist state against the Palestinian people, with the support of the United States, NATO, and the European Union, is a leading expression of this barbarity. At the same time, the deeper involvement of governments in war planning, militarization, armament programs, and the repression of social and political resistance shows that war and the “war economy” are integral elements of contemporary capitalist strategy.

Under these conditions, the need for internationalist coordination among anti-capitalist, anti-imperialist, workers’ and revolutionary forces is more urgent than ever.

We call for an International Anti-War Conference in Athens on July 22–23–24, with the aim of discussion, exchange of experiences, development of common political reflection, and the exploration of forms of international coordination and joint action.

We propose that the meeting be organized around the following main axes:

Against Imperialist War: We oppose imperialist war from the standpoint of the interests of the working class and the peoples. We stand against all imperialist axes, alliances, and ruling classes that clash over the control of markets, energy routes, raw materials, and geopolitical spheres of influence. We reject the logic of choosing a “camp” between competing capitalist and imperialist blocs. The only way to stop meat-grinder wars, like the one in Ukraine, is to fight “against the enemy in our own country”.

Solidarity with Palestine: We stand with the Palestinian people and their right to freedom and their land. Resistance, in the forms chosen by peoples themselves, is an inalienable right. We demand the immediate end of the Israeli occupation, the release of political prisoners, and the return of refugees. We seek to strengthen the international movement of solidarity, boycott, and isolation of the State of Israel and its allies. We fight for a free Palestine in a Middle East free of imperialism end exploitation. The defeat of the U.S.–Israel alliance in Iran and in all their imperialist ambitions is a prerequisite for a free Middle East, where the peoples will determine their own destiny with their own hands.

Against NATO and the European Union: NATO and the European Union are key pillars of the contemporary war-driven and reactionary framework. We struggle for withdrawal from NATO, the closure of military bases, the cancellation of armament programs, and a break with the EU’s war strategy. We oppose the transformation of our countries into launching pads for war and repression.

Independence of the anti-capitalist left from bourgeois politics: The anti-capitalist and revolutionary left cannot subordinate itself to governmental alternations, bourgeois alliances, or national strategies of the “lesser evil.” Full political and organizational independence from bourgeois parties, states, and imperialist plans is necessary, based on the interests of the working class and social liberation.

Reorganization of workers’, socialist, and communist forces as the only answer to war and capitalism: Only the rebuilding of an independent workers’ and revolutionary movement, and the re-groupment of socialist and communist forces in an anti-capitalist and internationalist direction, can open paths against war, nationalism, fascism, and capitalist barbarism. The struggle for peace cannot be separated from the struggle for social liberation, workers’ power, and a communist perspective.

The aim of the International Anti-War Meeting is to contribute to the formation of a militant internationalist front of struggle, to exchange experiences from movements and resistance in every country, and to promote common initiatives against war, imperialism, capitalism, and oppression.

The Conference we are calling in Athens on 22-23-24 July is a step forward in this construction work, which some of us began in previous meetings such as in Buenos Aires and Naples Conferences in 2024/25.

The conference is open to any organization or collective that wishes to contribute to the necessary internationalist cooperation, without restrictions based on historical references or political currents. We call on every force that recognizes the necessity of this direction to actively contribute to the Conference and to the necessary internationalist dialogue and coordination.
